Lagoon Festival

The town of Munda in the Western Province came alive for the start of the three day Lagoon Festival. The festival honours the late Alec Wickham, an athlet and sportsman who is belived to have taken the local swimming style to Australia - where it bcame known as the Australian crawl and was later developed into what is now known today as the freestyle. Lambete was the focal point of the festival.

10 war canoes were brought over from the Christian Fellowship Church. Decked in their traditional attire - the 200 plus paddlers dazzled both tourists and locals with their fine seafaring skills and the workmanship that went into carving and building the war canoes.
